Spirit Of Truth (Holy Spirit Names Series)

Continuing our Names & Titles of the Holy Spirit series in this article I am going to look at all the scriptures where the Holy Spirit is referred to as the Spirit Of Truth.

Are you confused? There is so much noise in the world today. Someone proclaims the truth over there and someone yells out that no the truth is over this way, and with social media, books, tv shows, a myriad of religions, a myriad of views, your friends, your family, popular opinion, this noise is multiplied a million times.

If you are willing to get your head out of the ground and stop hiding from the truth or stop inventing your own truth, then there is a way for you to know the absolute truth.

And That Is by Receiving the Spirit of Truth.

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (Jhn 14:17)

There is a lot revealed in just this one verse of scripture so let’s itemize each point:

  1. The World Can Not Receive Him
  2. Because The World Can Not See Him
  3. The World Can Not Know Him
  4. But We Know The Spirit
  5. Because The Spirit Dwells In Us

The Comforter

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:  (Jhn 15:26)

Once again, there is a lot revealed in just this one verse of scripture so let’s itemize each point:

  • Who sends the Comforter? Jesus sends the Comforter
  • Who is the Comforter? The Spirit of Truth
  • Where does the Comforter come from?  It proceeds From The Father (Therefore from above – Heaven)
  • What will the Comforter do? He will testify of Jesus

What Else Does The Comforter Do?

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. (Jhn 16:13-14)

Once again, there is a lot revealed in just this one verse of scripture so let’s itemize each point:

  • Will Guide You In All Truth
  • Does Not Speak Of Himself
  • Speaks What He Hears
  • Will Show You Things To Come
  • Glorifies Jesus
  • He Receives From Jesus and Shows (Makes It Known) It To Us

That last point is amazing… All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you. (Jhn 16:15)

  • All things that the Father has are Jesus’
  • Jesus shows those things to us via the Comforter

Hereby Know We The Spirit Of Truth

We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. (1Jo 4:6)

Once again, there is a lot revealed in just this one verse of scripture so let’s itemize each point:

  • We are of God
  • Anyone who knows God hears us
  • He that is not of God doesn’t hear us
  • That’s how we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error
