It Feels Like Everything Is Broken… So Where Is God in It?
Let’s be honest.
When leadership feels corrupt, systems feel unfair, and truth feels pushed aside… it’s easy to start thinking nothing will change.
You look around and wonder, Is God seeing this? Does He actually step in?
Isaiah was written into a moment just like that.
Chaos. Corruption. Leaders failing the people.
And right in the middle of that, God makes a promise.
“And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning” (Isaiah 1:26, KJV).
That’s not vague.
That’s God saying, I’m not done with this situation.
God Sees Corruption Clearly
Before that promise, God doesn’t pretend things are okay.
He calls it out.
“How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers” (Isaiah 1:21, KJV).
Leadership had shifted.
Justice had been replaced with selfishness.
Truth had been traded for gain.
God sees all of that.
He’s not blind to broken systems.
He’s not ignoring injustice.
He names it for what it is.
Oppression Is Not the Final Story
When you’re living in a difficult environment, it can feel permanent.
Like this is just how things are now.
But God speaks differently.
“Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness” (Isaiah 1:27, KJV).
Redeemed.
That means bought back.
Restored.
Set right.
God is not just observing.
He’s working toward restoration.
Even when you can’t see it yet.
God Raises Righteous Leadership
Here’s the part that brings hope.
God doesn’t just remove corruption.
He replaces it.
“I will restore thy judges… and thy counsellors” (Isaiah 1:26, KJV).
That means leadership matters to God.
Justice matters to God.
Righteous voices matter to God.
And when the time is right, He raises people up.
“But promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west… but God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another” (Psalm 75:6–7, KJV).
That includes leaders.
That includes influence.
God is still in control of who rises and who falls.
What About You in the Middle of It?
This is where it gets personal.
Because while you’re waiting for change around you… God is working in you.
“Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:10, KJV).
Oppression doesn’t mean you’re forgotten.
It often means you’re standing in something that matters.
And God sees that.
Faithfulness Matters More Than Environment
It’s easy to think, If things were better, I’d live better.
But Scripture flips that.
Faithfulness is not dependent on environment.
It’s proven in it.
“Who is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much” (Luke 16:10, KJV).
That means even in a difficult system…
Even in a place where things feel off…
Your integrity still matters.
Your choices still matter.
God sees how you live when it’s not easy.
Daniel: A Picture of Faithfulness Under Pressure
Think about Daniel.
He lived under foreign rule.
Different values. Different system. Real pressure to compromise.
But he stayed consistent.
“My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths” (Daniel 6:22, KJV).
God didn’t remove Daniel from the system immediately.
He sustained him in it.
And eventually, God used him in it.
That’s the pattern.
Pentecost: Power in the Middle of Opposition
Fast forward.
The early church didn’t live in a comfortable environment.
There was pressure. Threats. Resistance.
But something changed at Pentecost.
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost” (Acts 2:4, KJV).
Now they had power.
Not political power.
Spiritual power.
“And with great power gave the apostles witness” (Acts 4:33, KJV).
That’s important.
Because even when systems are broken, God empowers His people to stand, speak, and live differently.
Justice Will Be Restored
This is the part people need to hold onto.
God doesn’t ignore injustice forever.
“Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” (Genesis 18:25, KJV).
He will.
In His timing.
In His way.
But it will happen.
Isaiah’s promise is not just about one moment.
It’s about a pattern.
God restores what’s been twisted.
What You Can Do Right Now
You may not control the system around you.
But you’re not powerless.
Stay faithful
Don’t compromise just because others do.
Stay grounded in truth
Don’t let confusion reshape what you believe.
Stay connected to God
That’s where your strength comes from.
Stay ready
Because when God raises people up, He looks for those who are already prepared.
Final Question
Are you letting your environment shape you… or is God shaping you in your environment?
Because Isaiah’s promise still stands.
God restores.
God raises.
God sets things right.
And sometimes, the very people He raises… are the ones who stayed faithful when everything around them wasn’t.
