Answer God’s Call with Kingdom Courage

Answer God’s Call with Kingdom Courage

You Feel Called… But Also Completely Unqualified

Let’s be honest.

You sense God nudging you. There’s something you’re supposed to step into. A direction. A responsibility. Maybe even a moment you know you shouldn’t ignore.

But right behind that… comes the doubt.

What if I mess it up?
What if I’m not ready?
What if I’m not enough?

That tension is real.

And God speaks straight into it.

“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid… for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest” (Joshua 1:9, KJV).

Notice what He didn’t say.

He didn’t say, be confident in yourself.

He said, be courageous because I’m with you.

That’s different.

Fear Doesn’t Disqualify You… But It Can Stop You

Feeling fear doesn’t mean you missed your calling.

It means you’re human.

But letting fear lead you… that’s where things go wrong.

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7, KJV).

Fear is not coming from God.

So when fear starts shaping your decisions, you’re being influenced by something other than Him.

And that’s what has to be confronted.

Kingdom Courage vs. Self-Confidence

Let’s clear something up.

Self-confidence says, I believe in myself.

Kingdom courage says, I trust God even when I don’t feel ready.

That’s the shift.

Because if you wait until you feel fully confident in yourself… you’ll wait too long.

God often calls people before they feel ready.

Moses tried to back out.

“Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh?” (Exodus 3:11, KJV).

God didn’t boost Moses’ self-esteem.

He gave him something better.

“Certainly I will be with thee” (Exodus 3:12, KJV).

That’s Kingdom courage.

Obedience Comes Before Clarity

Here’s where people hesitate.

They want everything mapped out.

Every step clear.

Every detail confirmed.

But God often gives direction one step at a time.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105, KJV).

A lamp doesn’t show the whole road.

It shows the next step.

So the question becomes… will you take it?

You Grow Into the Calling

A lot of people think they need to be fully developed before they step out.

It’s actually the opposite.

You grow as you go.

“Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it” (1 Thessalonians 5:24, KJV).

God doesn’t just call you.

He works in you while you respond.

That means your weaknesses don’t disqualify you.

They become the place where God’s strength shows up.

“My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9, KJV).

The Cost of Staying Comfortable

Let’s be real.

Not stepping out feels safer.

Less risk. Less pressure. Less exposure.

But there’s a cost.

You miss what God wanted to do through you.

The opportunity passes.

The moment closes.

“To him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin” (James 4:17, KJV).

That’s not meant to condemn.

It’s meant to wake you up.

Because delayed obedience is still disobedience.

Pentecost: When Fear Turned Into Boldness

Look at the disciples.

Before Pentecost, they were hesitant.

Hiding. Uncertain. Afraid of opposition.

Then something changed.

“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost” (Acts 2:4, KJV).

Now Peter stands up publicly.

Speaks boldly.

No hesitation.

What changed?

They didn’t suddenly believe in themselves more.

They were filled with power.

“And with great power gave the apostles witness” (Acts 4:33, KJV).

That’s Kingdom courage.

You Don’t Have to Feel Ready to Move

This is where things shift practically.

You don’t wait for the feeling.

You respond to the call.

Feelings will catch up later.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5, KJV).

Your understanding says, not yet.

God says, go.

Who are you going to listen to?

A Simple Way to Step Forward

If you’re feeling stuck, keep it simple.

Identify the next step
Not the whole journey. Just the next move.

Pray honestly
“God, I’m nervous, but I’m willing.”

Act anyway
Even if your voice shakes. Even if it feels small.

Stay consistent
Courage grows with repetition.

What Happens When You Choose Courage

Something shifts inside you.

Not instantly perfect.

But noticeably different.

You become less controlled by fear.

More responsive to God.

More aware of opportunities.

And over time, what once felt impossible… becomes normal.

Final Question

Are you waiting to feel ready… or are you willing to trust God and move?

Because the call isn’t going away.

And neither is the opportunity to step into it.

You don’t need more confidence in yourself.

You need courage rooted in Him.

And once you start walking in that… everything begins to change.

Call to Action: The Question That Demands an Answer

In Acts 2:37 Peter and the Apostles were asked the question – What Shall We do?

And in Acts 2:38 Peter answered, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Do you understand this? After hearing the gospel and believing, they asked what should would do. The answer hasn’t changed friend, Peter clearly gave the answer. The question for you today is, Have you receieved the Holy Spirit Since you believed?
