You ever deal with something that just won’t shift?
You try to fix it from the outside. You address the obvious part. But nothing really changes.
And deep down you start wondering… is there something more going on here?
Something underneath what you can see?
Let’s see what the Scripture actually says.
“Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.”
Matthew 12:22 (KJV)
Then was brought unto him
He didn’t come on his own.
Someone brought him.
That matters more than it seems.
Because sometimes faith doesn’t start with you. It starts with someone refusing to leave you where you are.
Do you see that?
This man couldn’t see. Couldn’t speak. He wasn’t in a position to ask for help.
But someone else stepped in and carried him to Jesus.
That shows you something about access.
“And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four” (Mark 2:3)
Others carried him. Then Jesus responded.
So the question becomes… who are you bringing before Jesus? And who might be carrying you right now?
One possessed with a devil
This is where it gets uncomfortable.
The issue wasn’t just physical.
Blindness and muteness were there. But they weren’t the root.
There was a spiritual cause behind a physical condition.
That doesn’t mean every problem works this way. But this one did.
And if you ignore that part, you miss the whole picture.
Do you notice that?
Jesus didn’t treat symptoms only. He dealt with the source.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against… spiritual wickedness” (Ephesians 6:12)
Some battles look natural, but they aren’t only natural.
Blind, and dumb
He couldn’t see.
He couldn’t speak.
Think about that for a second.
No vision. No voice.
That’s not just physical. That’s limiting everything.
He couldn’t respond. Couldn’t express. Couldn’t even explain what was wrong.
And that’s where some people are.
Not physically maybe. But internally.
You feel stuck. You can’t see clearly. You don’t even have the words anymore.
That’s real.
Is that closer to where you’ve been than you expected?
And he healed him
Notice how simple that line is.
No process is described.
No delay is mentioned.
Jesus steps in. And everything changes.
Because when the root is dealt with, the effects collapse.
Do you see the order?
The moment the spiritual oppression is broken, sight and speech return.
“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth… who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil” (Acts 10:38)
That connection is clear.
Oppression removed. Healing follows.
The blind and dumb both spake and saw
Restoration wasn’t partial.
It was complete.
He didn’t just improve. He was fully restored.
Sight came back. Speech came back.
That tells you something about how Jesus works.
He doesn’t patch things up. He restores.
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32)
Freedom isn’t halfway.
What’s really happening in this moment?
This wasn’t just a miracle.
It was exposure.
Jesus revealed that some conditions have deeper roots than people realize.
And the crowd saw it.
Right after this, people started questioning… “Is not this the son of David?”
They recognized something bigger was happening.
Power. Authority. Restoration.
All in one moment.
Let’s sit in this for a second
Because this hits close.
It’s easy to focus only on what you can see.
The symptom. The struggle. The surface issue.
But what if that’s not the whole story?
What if the frustration isn’t just physical, emotional, or situational?
What if there’s something underneath that needs to be addressed?
Have you been trying to fix the outcome without asking about the root?
What this is calling you into
This verse isn’t asking you to figure everything out.
It’s pointing you to the One who sees what you can’t.
The man didn’t diagnose himself.
He was brought to Jesus.
And Jesus handled it.
That’s the direction.
Bringing it to Him honestly. Fully. Without pretending you understand it all.
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you” (1 Peter 5:7)
Not some of it. All of it.
Even the parts you can’t explain.
So here’s the question that stays with you…
Are you only dealing with what you can see… or are you actually bringing the whole thing to Him?
