The Holy Spirit Grants Access to the Father

The Holy Spirit Grants Access to the Father.

Access Granted by the Spirit

Brethren, hear this eternal truth: “For through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father” (Ephesians 2:18). Access is not earned. It is not achieved through religious striving. It is granted – freely, fully, and forever – by the Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the divine escort who ushers sinners into the very presence of a holy God. He removes barriers, tears down walls, and opens the door of communion. What once was sealed by sin is now unlocked by grace. Do you realize what that means? You are invited into the throne room of heaven.

From Fear to Family

“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption” (Romans 8:15). The Spirit doesn’t drag us trembling to the Father – He draws us as children crying, “Abba, Father.” Once we stood afar off, enslaved to guilt. Now, we run home, embraced by love.

And again, “Because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father” (Galatians 4:6). This is not cold religion; it’s warm relationship. The Spirit doesn’t just show you the door – He lives within, whispering, “You belong here.”

Boldness in the Holiest

“Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus” (Hebrews 10:19). The Spirit applies the power of that blood, transforming access from theory into living experience. He invites you to come boldly unto the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16).

O my soul, don’t hesitate at the threshold of mercy! The Spirit gives courage to step in – not because you are righteous, but because Christ is. When the enemy accuses, the Spirit reminds you of the blood that speaks better things than condemnation.

The Spirit Guides Through the Way

Jesus declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me” (John 14:6). Yet how do we find that way? The Spirit is our guide, leading us into truth, showing us Christ, and drawing us toward the Father.

“By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand” (Romans 5:2). Faith opens the door, but the Spirit strengthens your legs to stand. He’s the one who takes trembling hearts and teaches them to trust.

The Spirit That Brings Us Near

“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins… that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit” (1 Peter 3:18). It was the Spirit who raised Christ from the grave, and it is that same Spirit who raises you into fellowship with the Father.

Think of it: the same power that rolled away the stone now rolls away your shame. Blessed is the one whom the Lord chooses and causes to approach Him (Psalm 65:4). This is not human effort – it’s divine invitation.

Not by Might, Nor by Power

“Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the LORD of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6). Fleshly effort can’t open heaven’s door. Only the Spirit can. The proud will strive, the fearful will shrink back, but those who walk by the Spirit will find the way already prepared. He doesn’t need your strength; He needs your surrender.

The Spirit Reveals Christ

Jesus said, “He shall glorify Me… and shall show it unto you” (John 16:14–15). The Spirit doesn’t obscure Jesus – He magnifies Him. He shines light on the cross until you see that Christ Himself is your access. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17–18). Liberty from ritual, from guilt, from distance. Liberty to come near. Liberty to be transformed.

Entrance Through New Birth

“Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God” (John 3:5–6). The Spirit not only opens the way – He births you into it. Entry is not granted by lineage, effort, or ceremony. It is a miracle of regeneration. You don’t climb into God’s presence – you are born into it.

The Spirit Keeps the Door Open

When your prayers falter, when your words fail, the Spirit keeps the connection alive. “The Spirit itself maketh intercession for us… according to the will of God” (Romans 8:26–27). He groans when you cannot. He speaks when you are silent. He translates tears into prayer. Brethren, what a comfort – to know access to the Father never depends on perfect words, only a willing heart.

Spirit-Led Worship and Fellowship

“The true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23–24). True access isn’t found in buildings or ceremonies – it’s found in hearts alive with the Spirit. And this fellowship continues: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all” (2 Corinthians 13:14). Access is not a moment – it’s a lifestyle of communion.

A Broken Spirit Welcomes His Presence

“I dwell… with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit” (Isaiah 57:15). Even before Pentecost, God’s pattern was clear – He draws near to the lowly. Pride closes the door; humility opens it. The Spirit still moves upon humble hearts today, resting where repentance and reverence meet.

Draw Near, for It Is Good

“It is good for me to draw near to God” (Psalm 73:28). The Spirit whispers this truth when the world shouts distraction. He draws you away from noise into nearness. He turns chaos into communion. Have you felt that gentle pull? That’s not coincidence. That’s the Spirit of access calling your name.

The Final Invitation

And now, as Scripture closes, the same Spirit still speaks: “The Spirit and the bride say, Come” (Revelation 22:17). From Eden’s lost fellowship to the final call of Revelation, the Spirit’s cry has not changed – “Come.” Come out of distance. Come out of striving. Come into fellowship with the Father through the Son, by the Spirit.

O soul, will you come? The door is open. The Spirit is calling. Access has been granted. Step in.
