The Divine Teacher Still Speaks
Brethren, Jesus did not leave us comfortless or forgetful. He said, “The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost… shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you” (John 14:26).
The Holy Spirit is not a distant echo of Christ’s voice – He is the living presence of Christ’s mind within us. Have you ever been at a loss for words, and suddenly a verse surfaced in your heart like a light in darkness? That’s the Spirit fulfilling His holy office. He not only reminds, He revives. He not only recalls, He reveals.
The Spirit Gives Timely Words
Friends, Jesus promised that “the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say” (Luke 12:12). The Spirit’s timing is never late, never random. When Peter stood before the Sanhedrin, when Stephen faced his accusers, when you and I face a world that mocks truth – the Spirit still whispers words straight from heaven.
“It is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you” (Matthew 10:19–20). Have you trusted Him to fill your mouth with grace instead of fear? The Spirit does not only remind; He equips, empowers, and emboldens.
The Word Written Within
Long before Pentecost, God declared through Jeremiah, “I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts” (Jeremiah 31:33). The same promise is repeated in Hebrews 8:10–11 – that the new covenant would not depend on stone tablets but living hearts. What a miracle!
God Himself, through His Spirit, engraving truth within our souls. Have you felt that gentle engraving, that inward conviction no sermon could force but the Spirit alone could plant? That’s the handwriting of heaven on a heart of flesh.
The Guard and Guide Within
O my soul, remember this: “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee” (Psalm 119:11). The Holy Spirit is the keeper of that treasure chest. He hides the Word deep enough to withstand temptation yet near enough to recall in time of need.
Then, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Colossians 3:16). The Spirit doesn’t settle for a passing thought – He wants a dwelling place, a home overflowing with psalms, hymns, and songs of the heart. When the Word dwells richly, sin loses its grip, and worship rises naturally.
The Abiding Word That Cannot Fade
Christ said, “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you” (John 15:7). The Spirit ensures that abiding. Without Him, our memory fades, our zeal cools, our confidence wanes. But when the Spirit brings Christ’s words to remembrance, the fire stays lit.
He rekindles forgotten promises, renews weary faith, and strengthens faint hearts. Brethren, what word has the Spirit been stirring in you lately? Don’t brush it aside – that’s Christ knocking again on the door of your mind.
The Ministry of Holy Remembrance
Peter said, “I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things” (2 Peter 1:12–13). The Spirit works through faithful voices – preachers, mentors, even songs – to stir up our holy memory.
Jude exhorts, “Remember ye the words which were spoken… praying in the Holy Ghost” (Jude 17–20). When remembrance and prayer join hands, the heart catches fire. What the Spirit recalls, He empowers you to pray. And what you pray, He turns into action.
The Spirit Reveals, Teaches, and Illuminates
“God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit… which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth” (1 Corinthians 2:10–13). Without the Spirit, Scripture is ink on paper; with Him, it becomes fire on the soul.
“When He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth… He shall glorify Me” (John 16:13–15). Friends, the Spirit’s teaching always leads to Christ. Never to confusion, never to pride – always to the glorified Son of God.
The Spirit That Changes the Heart
Ezekiel prophesied, “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you… and cause you to walk in My statutes” (Ezekiel 36:26–27). What God writes, He enables. The Spirit not only teaches us the way – He gives us the will to walk it.
When we stumble, “the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities… maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” (Romans 8:26–27). Have you ever prayed without knowing what to say, and yet peace came? That’s the Spirit reminding you of God’s will, even when words are lost.
The Spirit Who Still Instructs
Nehemiah testified, “Thou gavest also thy good Spirit to instruct them” (Nehemiah 9:20). The same Spirit who guided Israel through wilderness and rebellion still guides His people today. “Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy Spirit is good” (Psalm 143:10).
The Spirit is not just the memory of Christ – He is the living mind of Christ at work in you. “The anointing… teacheth you of all things” (1 John 2:27). Have you yielded to that anointing, or do you still lean on your own understanding?
The Everlasting Voice of the Spirit
God declared, “My Spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart… from henceforth and for ever” (Isaiah 59:21). The Spirit and the Word walk together; to separate them is to lose both. “These words… shall be in thine heart… and thou shalt teach them diligently” (Deuteronomy 6:6–7).
When the Spirit brings Christ’s words to remembrance, He intends them to be spoken, lived, and passed on. And even now, the risen Christ calls, “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches” (Revelation 2:7).
Brethren, the Spirit is speaking still. Are we listening?
Closing Appeal: Let the Word Live Again
O my soul, do not let the Word grow cold. The same Spirit who breathed life into dust, who raised Christ from the dead, who brought forgotten words to trembling disciples – He is able to quicken you again.
Let Him write, remind, and revive within you every word Christ ever spoke. Let Him fill your memory, guard your speech, and sanctify your steps.
For the Holy Spirit brings Christ’s words to remembrance – not for information, but transformation. Not to recall history, but to reveal the living Christ today.
He speaks still. Will you remember what He has said?
