You know Jesus heals.
You’ve seen it in Scripture. You believe it’s possible.
But when it comes to you… something holds back.
Maybe you think you need the right moment.
Maybe you think He has to notice you first.
Maybe you’re just tired of trying.
So you stay in the background.
Let’s see what the Scripture actually says.
The Verse (KJV)
“And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,
Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.
And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”
Luke 8:43–48
Twelve Years Of Nothing Changing
“…twelve years…”
This wasn’t new.
This was long-term. Draining. Repeated disappointment.
“…spent all her living… neither could be healed…”
She tried everything.
Nothing worked.
So by this point, it would’ve been easy to give up.
To stop expecting anything different.
Have you ever been there?
Where it’s not just the problem… it’s how long it’s been?
She Didn’t Wait To Be Noticed
“Came behind him…”
She doesn’t call out.
She doesn’t push to the front.
She approaches quietly.
From behind.
This is different from others who cried out loudly.
Her faith doesn’t look the same.
But it still moves.
She Had Already Decided
“…touched the border of his garment…”
She reaches with intention.
Mark’s account says she said within herself, if I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
So this wasn’t random.
She believed something before she acted.
That matters.
Because what you believe shapes how you respond.
Immediate Change
“…immediately her issue of blood stanched.”
No delay again.
Twelve years… and then suddenly it stops.
That contrast is strong.
Long struggle. Instant change.
So time didn’t limit the outcome.
Not Every Touch Is The Same
“Who touched me?”
This feels strange at first.
Everyone is pressing around Him.
But Jesus singles out one touch.
Why?
Because something was different.
Not just physical contact.
Faith was involved.
Do you see that?
Power Responded To Her
“…I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.”
Power flowed.
Not because Jesus chose her in that moment.
But because she reached in faith.
That’s important.
Because it shows something.
The power was already there.
Her faith connected with it.
She Couldn’t Stay Hidden
“…she came trembling…”
Now she’s exposed.
What was done quietly is now public.
She tells everything.
Why she came. What happened.
And Jesus doesn’t correct her.
He affirms her.
“Thy Faith Hath Made Thee Whole”
This is the key.
Not luck. Not timing.
Faith.
Her trust. Her decision to act.
That’s what connected her to the power.
And notice the word “whole.”
Not just healed.
Restored.
What Was Actually Happening Here
Jesus is on His way to another urgent situation.
A crowd is pressing around Him.
And in the middle of that…
One person reaches differently.
No announcement. No interruption.
But her faith creates a moment.
So healing isn’t limited to scheduled encounters.
It happens when faith connects.
Scripture Confirms This Pattern
Matthew 14:36 says as many as touched Him were made perfectly whole.
Luke 6:19 shows power going out and healing all.
Hebrews 11:6 shows faith is required to please God.
So again, the pattern is consistent.
Power is present.
Faith reaches.
Healing happens.
The Internal Tension You Might Feel
This is where it gets honest.
Because you might feel like you’ve tried before.
And nothing changed.
So now you hesitate.
You don’t want to reach again and be disappointed again.
Or maybe you’re waiting for a clear sign.
A moment where it feels right.
So you stay back.
Is that what’s been happening?
Do you feel like you’re waiting to be chosen instead of reaching?
What This Is Calling You Into
This passage shifts something.
She didn’t wait for permission.
She responded to what she believed.
She reached.
So your direction is simple.
Stop waiting for the perfect moment.
Come to Him through His Word.
Decide what you believe.
And act on it.
Even if it feels small.
Even if it’s just one step.
Because that step matters.
So right now…
what would it look like for you to reach, instead of waiting?
Closing Thought
There was a crowd touching Him.
But only one person touched Him in faith.
And that’s the one who received.
So the real question is…
Are you just close to Him, or are you reaching in a way that actually connects?
Call to Action: The Question That Demands an AnswerIn Acts 2:37 Peter and the Apostles were asked the question – What Shall We do? And in Acts 2:38 Peter answered, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. Do you understand this? After hearing the gospel and believing, they asked what should would do. The answer hasn’t changed friend, Peter clearly gave the answer. The question for you today is, Have you receieved the Holy Spirit Since you believed?
