You ever catch yourself holding something back from God?
Not saying it out loud. Not thinking too deeply about it. Just keeping it tucked away.
Like if you don’t face it, He won’t either.
But then you read this verse… and it cuts right through that.
So what does it actually mean that nothing is hidden from Him?
And if that’s true, why do we still try to hide?
Let’s see what the Scripture actually says.
Hebrews 4:13 (KJV)
“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.”
Start with that first phrase.
“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight”
Manifest means revealed. Seen clearly.
Nothing escapes His view.
Not just actions. Thoughts. Motives. Intentions.
There’s no blind spot.
So this isn’t just about what you do.
It’s about what’s really going on underneath.
Do you see how deep that goes?
Then it says this.
“But all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him”
That’s strong language.
“Naked” means fully exposed. Nothing covered.
“Opened” carries the idea of being laid bare. Like something pulled back so everything is visible.
God doesn’t just see surface behavior.
He sees the full picture.
Not the version you present.
The version you are.
That’s not comfortable, is it?
And then this final line.
“Of him with whom we have to do”
You’re not dealing with someone distant.
You’re dealing with Him.
The One who sees everything is the One you stand before.
The One you pray to.
The One you answer to.
That makes this personal.
Now look at the context.
Right before this, the passage talks about the word of God.
Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful… and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
So verse 13 isn’t random.
It’s the result of what God’s word does.
His word exposes what’s inside you.
And God Himself sees it fully.
This is in the middle of a warning about entering His rest.
Some didn’t enter because of unbelief.
Outwardly they followed.
Inwardly they resisted.
And God saw it.
That’s what this verse is addressing.
Other Scriptures confirm this.
Psalm 139:1–2 (KJV)
“O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me… thou understandest my thought afar off.”
He knows what you’re thinking before you even form the words.
Then this.
Proverbs 15:3 (KJV)
“The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.”
Nothing slips past Him.
And this.
Jeremiah 17:10 (KJV)
“I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins…”
He doesn’t just observe. He examines.
Now be honest.
You know God sees everything.
But you still act like He doesn’t sometimes.
You avoid certain prayers.
You skip over certain thoughts.
You distract yourself instead of dealing with what’s inside.
Why?
Because if it stays unspoken, it feels easier.
Is that what’s been happening for you?
Do you feel that tension between what you know is there… and what you’re willing to face?
Here’s where this gets real.
God already sees it.
The thing you’re avoiding.
The motive you don’t want to admit.
The struggle you keep managing instead of bringing into the light.
It’s already open before Him.
So hiding isn’t protecting you.
It’s just delaying something that’s already exposed.
So what does this look like in a real moment?
Instead of filtering your prayers, you bring it honestly.
Not polished. Not cleaned up.
You say what’s actually there.
Because you’re not informing God.
You’re agreeing with what He already sees.
And that’s where change starts.
What would it look like to stop managing the appearance… and start dealing with the reality?
Nothing is hidden from God.
Not the good. Not the struggle. Not the parts you wish weren’t there.
And strangely, that’s not meant to push you away.
Keep reading the next verse.
Hebrews 4:14–16 (KJV) talks about coming boldly to the throne of grace.
The same God who sees everything… invites you closer.
Not because you’re hiding it well.
But because you don’t have to.
So here’s the question that stays with you:
If God already sees it all… what are you still trying to keep covered?
