The Fire That Still Falls

The Fire That Still Falls

Let’s be honest.

When you read about fire falling in Scripture, it feels distant.

Elijah on the mountain. The altar soaked in water. Then suddenly, fire comes down and consumes everything. Or the day of Pentecost, when tongues like fire rested on them and everything changed.

Moments like that feel intense. Clear. Undeniable.

And if you’re not careful, you can start thinking, that was for them.

Different time. Different people.

But here’s the truth that cuts through that thinking.

The fire didn’t stop.

The question is not whether God still moves like that.

The question is whether we understand what that fire really is, and how we position ourselves for it.

What the Fire Represents

Fire in Scripture is not just about spectacle.

It points to something deeper.

God’s presence.

God’s acceptance.

God’s power.

And also, God’s purification.

When fire fell on the altar, it wasn’t random. It was a sign that God received the sacrifice.

When fire appeared at Pentecost, it wasn’t just dramatic. It marked the arrival of the Spirit, empowering people to live and speak with boldness.

So fire is not just something to watch.

It’s something that reveals what God is doing.

Why People Chase the Wrong Thing

Let’s be real.

It’s easy to get caught up in the idea of the moment.

The visible. The intense. The kind of experience that stands out.

And before long, the focus shifts.

From God’s presence to the experience itself.

From what He’s doing to how it feels.

That’s where things get off track.

Because the fire was never meant to be chased as an experience.

It’s the result of something deeper.

The Altar Still Matters

If you look at where fire fell, there was always something in place first.

An altar.

A sacrifice.

Something laid down.

Fire didn’t fall on empty ground.

And that’s where this becomes personal.

Because the question is not just, do you want the fire?

It’s this.

Is there an altar in your life?

Not a physical one.

But a place of surrender.

A place where you lay things down before God.

Your will.

Your plans.

Your distractions.

Your control.

This is where the fire meets your life.

Surrender Before Fire

This part matters.

People often want the power without the surrender.

But the two go together.

You don’t hold onto everything and expect God’s fire to just drop into your life on your terms.

The fire comes where there is openness.

Where there is willingness.

Where there is a laying down.

And let’s be honest.

Surrender is not always comfortable.

It means letting go of things you want to keep.

It means trusting God when you don’t see the outcome yet.

But this is where something real begins.

The Fire That Purifies

Here’s something people don’t always talk about.

Fire doesn’t just empower.

It purifies.

It burns away what doesn’t belong.

Attitudes.

Motives.

Things hidden beneath the surface.

And this is where some people pull back.

Because they want the power, but not the refining.

But the fire does both.

It strengthens, and it cleans.

And if you let it work, you come out different.

Not just with an experience.

But changed.

When the Fire Feels Quiet

Now let’s bring this into real life.

Not every move of God looks dramatic.

Sometimes the fire is not loud.

It’s steady.

It’s the strength to stay when you would normally quit.

It’s the conviction that keeps you from going in the wrong direction.

It’s the clarity that cuts through confusion.

That’s still the fire.

Working in a way that shapes you from the inside.

The Day of Pentecost Was Not the End

When the fire fell in the early church, it wasn’t a one-time event meant to stay in the past.

It marked the beginning of something.

The Spirit coming to dwell in people.

To empower them.

To guide them.

To work through them.

That didn’t stop.

The same Spirit is still at work.

The same power is still available.

Not limited by time.

Not restricted to one moment in history.

Positioning Yourself for the Fire

So what does this actually look like?

You don’t manufacture fire.

You don’t force it.

But you do position yourself.

You stay surrendered.

You stay open.

You stay responsive when the Spirit nudges you.

You keep your focus on God, not just on what you want to experience.

And you stay consistent.

Even when it feels quiet.

Because it’s in that place that things begin to build.

When Nothing Seems to Happen

There will be moments where you expect something and it feels like nothing is happening.

No visible change.

No strong experience.

This is where many people step back.

But this is also where something deeper is taking place.

God is not limited to what you can see.

He’s working beneath the surface.

Aligning.

Preparing.

Refining.

And if you stay in that place, you’ll realize later that things were shifting all along.

The Fire That Transforms

Let’s talk about the result.

When God’s fire truly works in your life, it doesn’t leave you the same.

It changes how you think.

How you respond.

How you live.

It produces boldness.

Clarity.

Purity.

Not just for a moment.

But as a pattern.

And that’s the difference between chasing an experience and walking in something real.

Living With Expectation

So what do you do with this?

You don’t dismiss it as something that only happened before.

You stay open.

You stay surrendered.

You keep your life in a place where God can move.

And you expect that He still works.

Not always the way you imagine.

Not always on your timeline.

But real.

Active.

Present.

The Fire Still Falls

Here’s the truth you need to hold onto.

God has not stopped moving.

The fire has not gone out.

The same presence.

The same power.

The same Spirit.

Still at work.

Still available.

And when your life is positioned in surrender, something happens.

Not always loud.

Not always instant.

But real.

The fire still falls.

And when it does, it doesn’t just touch your life.

It transforms it.

And in Acts 2:38 Peter answered, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
