You believe Jesus can do anything.
That part isn’t the problem.
But when it gets personal, when it’s your body, your situation, your prayer… something shifts.
You start wondering quietly…
Does He actually want to heal me?
Or is this one of those things I just have to live with?
Let’s see what the Scripture actually says.
The Verse (KJV)
“And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.”
Luke 5:12–16
The Real Question Wasn’t Power… It Was Willingness
“…Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.”
This man doesn’t doubt Jesus’ ability.
He’s convinced Jesus can do it.
But he’s unsure if Jesus wants to.
That’s the tension right there.
Not can He… but will He?
And honestly, that’s where most people live.
You believe He’s able.
You’re just not sure He’s willing in your case.
Do you see yourself in that?
Jesus Didn’t Hesitate
“And he put forth his hand, and touched him…”
Before even speaking, Jesus touches him.
That matters.
Leprosy made a person unclean. Isolated. Untouchable.
No one goes near them.
But Jesus closes the gap.
He doesn’t step back. He steps in.
So before the healing even happens, you see His heart.
He’s not avoiding the problem. He’s moving toward it.
“I Will” Settles It
“…saying, I will: be thou clean.”
That’s the answer.
Simple. Direct. No conditions added.
“I will.”
That removes the uncertainty.
It answers the question the man actually asked.
So when you wonder if Jesus wants to heal…
this is His response.
“I will.”
That’s not vague, is it?
Immediate And Complete
“And immediately the leprosy departed from him.”
Not managed. Not reduced.
Gone.
And with leprosy, that means complete restoration.
Skin. Nerves. Strength.
Everything.
This lines up with what you keep seeing.
When Jesus heals, He restores fully.
Obedience Still Matters
“…go, and shew thyself to the priest…”
Jesus tells him to follow what the law required.
Not to earn healing, but to confirm it.
This becomes a testimony.
So healing doesn’t remove obedience.
It leads into it.
Faith responds.
The Result Drew More People
“…great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed…”
Notice the order.
Hear… and be healed.
Word and healing go together again.
Romans 10:17 says faith comes by hearing.
So people hear, faith rises, and they come expecting.
That pattern repeats.
Jesus Stayed Connected To The Father
“And he withdrew himself… and prayed.”
Even with all the healing, Jesus doesn’t disconnect.
He steps away to pray.
So the power you’re seeing isn’t independent.
It’s rooted in relationship with the Father.
John 5:19 says He does what He sees the Father doing.
So this healing isn’t random.
It reflects the Father’s will.
Scripture Confirms His Will To Heal
Matthew 8:17 says He took our infirmities and bare our sicknesses.
Acts 10:38 says He healed all who were oppressed.
Psalm 103:3 says the Lord forgives all iniquities and heals all diseases.
So this isn’t an isolated moment.
It’s consistent.
His will shows up the same way again and again.
The Internal Tension You Might Feel
Here’s where this hits home.
Because you’ve prayed before.
Maybe nothing changed.
So now, even if you don’t say it out loud, there’s hesitation.
You ask carefully.
You hold back a little.
You protect yourself from disappointment.
So instead of confidence, there’s a quiet “if You will.”
Is that what’s been sitting under your prayers?
Do you feel that uncertainty when it comes to your own situation?
What This Is Calling You Into
This passage doesn’t show a complicated process.
It shows a shift in understanding.
The man came unsure.
He left with clarity.
“I will.”
So the call is simple.
Stop questioning His willingness.
Start aligning with it.
Bring your situation to Him, not as a possibility, but as something He has already shown His heart toward.
Speak to it. Believe what He said.
Not because everything feels certain.
But because His response was clear.
So when that thought comes up again, “what if He doesn’t want to”…
what would it look like to answer it with what He already said?
Closing Thought
The man asked one honest question.
Jesus answered it in two words.
“I will.”
So the real question is…
Are you still asking if He’s willing, or are you ready to believe what He already said?
Call to Action: The Question That Demands an AnswerIn Acts 2:37 Peter and the Apostles were asked the question – What Shall We do? And in Acts 2:38 Peter answered, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. Do you understand this?
