You know something needs to change.
You’ve prayed about it.
Thought about it.
Maybe even believed for it.
But when it comes to actually stepping forward… you hesitate.
Because it doesn’t feel like the right moment.
Or maybe you’re waiting for it to feel easier first.
Let’s see what the Scripture actually says.
“And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:
And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.”
Matthew 12:9–13 (KJV)
“They Asked… That They Might Accuse”
This wasn’t a friendly question.
They weren’t curious.
They were watching.
Waiting for a mistake.
Trying to trap Him.
That matters.
Because the environment wasn’t supportive.
It was resistant.
Do you see that?
This wasn’t a perfect setting for healing.
“Is It Lawful?”
They focused on rules.
Timing.
Conditions.
Is this allowed right now?
Jesus shifts it.
He brings it back to something simple.
Doing good.
Helping someone in need.
That’s not what they expected, is it?
They made it complicated.
He made it clear.
“Stretch Forth Thine Hand”
This is where everything turns.
Jesus gives a command.
Not after the man is healed.
Before.
“Stretch.”
But his hand is withered.
That means he can’t do it naturally.
So why ask him to do what he can’t do?
Do you see the tension?
The action comes before the visible change.
“And He Stretched It Forth”
He acted.
Right there.
In front of everyone.
In a hostile environment.
With a condition that hadn’t changed yet.
And as he did… it was restored.
Not before.
During.
That’s not what people expect, is it?
We expect the change first… then the action.
This flips it.
What Was Going On Here?
Jesus is in the synagogue.
A religious setting.
People who knew the law.
And yet they missed the heart behind it.
The man with the need is standing there.
And Jesus uses the moment to reveal something.
God isn’t restricted by human timing or systems.
That context matters.
Because it shows healing isn’t about perfect conditions.
Scripture Reinforces This Pattern
James 2:17 says,
“Faith, if it hath not works, is dead…”
Faith moves.
Even when it doesn’t make sense yet.
And Luke 6:10 adds:
“And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand…”
Everyone was watching.
This wasn’t private.
Still, the man acted.
So what made the difference?
He responded to the word.
The Internal Struggle You Might Feel
You might be waiting.
Waiting for clarity.
Waiting for strength.
Waiting for the situation to shift first.
Because acting while things are still the same feels risky.
You don’t want to fail.
You don’t want to look foolish.
So you stay where it’s safe.
Is that what’s been happening?
Are you waiting for change before you move?
What This Is Calling You Toward
Jesus didn’t ask for perfection.
He gave a word.
And the response unlocked the result.
The man didn’t fix his hand.
He responded to Jesus.
That’s it.
2 Corinthians 5:7 says,
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
So the direction is simple.
Respond to what He says.
Even if it doesn’t match what you see yet.
So what would it look like for you to take that step… before you see the change?
One Truth To Hold Onto
The healing didn’t happen before the movement.
It happened as he responded.
That changes how you see faith.
So here’s the question that stays with you…
Are you waiting for things to change before you act… or are you ready to move on what He’s already said?
Call to Action: The Question That Demands an AnswerIn Acts 2:37 Peter and the Apostles were asked the question – What Shall We do? And in Acts 2:38 Peter answered, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. Do you understand this? After hearing the gospel and believing, they asked what should would do. The answer hasn’t changed friend, Peter clearly gave the answer. The question for you today is, Have you receieved the Holy Spirit Since you believed?
