Matthew 4:23–24 Explained: If Jesus Healed Then… Why Do You Still Doubt Now?

You read about Jesus healing people everywhere.

Not one or two. Whole crowds.

And yet when it comes to you, something hesitates.

You believe He can… but will He?

Or maybe even more honest… do you believe He still does?

Let’s see what the Scripture actually says.

“And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.”
Matthew 4:23–24 (KJV)

What Was Jesus Actually Doing?

“Teaching… preaching… and healing.”

That order matters.

He wasn’t just healing randomly.

He was revealing something. The kingdom of God had arrived.

Healing wasn’t separate from the message. It was part of it.

Proof. Evidence. Expression.

Do you see that?

The kingdom wasn’t just words. It showed up in bodies being restored.

“All Manner of Sickness”

That phrase removes limits.

Not some sickness.

Not only the easy ones.

All manner.

Physical. Mental. Spiritual.

Nothing was excluded.

That’s not what people expect, is it?

Because we’ve learned to categorize things as harder or impossible.

Jesus didn’t.

“They Brought Unto Him”

Notice this part.

People came.

Or someone brought them.

There was movement toward Jesus.

Not perfection. Not understanding everything.

Just coming.

Mark 9:23 says, “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”

Not all things are easy.

But all things are possible.

So what’s the one thing happening here?

They didn’t stay where they were.

What Was Going On Around This?

Jesus had just started His ministry.

He’s moving through Galilee.

Calling disciples. Teaching openly.

This is early. Fresh. Unfiltered.

People hadn’t built systems yet.

They saw need. They saw Jesus. They brought people.

And He healed them.

No long process.

No hesitation recorded.

That context matters.

It shows what happens when people meet Jesus without layers of doubt built over time.

Scripture Shows This Pattern Again

Acts 10:38 says,
“God anointed Jesus of Nazareth… who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil.”

Not some.

All.

Hebrews 13:8 says,
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

So if He healed then… what changed?

Not Him.

The Real Internal Tension

You’ve read verses like this before.

You’ve seen stories.

Maybe you’ve even prayed.

But something inside says, “What if it doesn’t happen for me?”

That quiet hesitation.

That guarded expectation.

You don’t want to get your hopes up.

Is that what’s been sitting under your prayers?

Do you believe… but with a limit?

What This Is Actually Calling You Into

This isn’t asking you to pretend.

It’s not asking you to force faith.

It’s showing you something simple.

Come to Him.

Bring it to Him.

Don’t filter it first.

James 1:6 says,
“But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.”

That doesn’t mean you feel strong.

It means you don’t split your trust in two directions.

So what would it look like for you to actually bring this to Him without holding back?

One Simple Truth to Sit With

Jesus didn’t turn people away.

He didn’t categorize their condition.

He didn’t say, “This one’s too much.”

He healed them.

And He hasn’t changed.

So here’s the question that stays with you…

Are you coming to Him expecting the same Jesus you just read about, or a different one?

Call to Action: The Question That Demands an Answer

In Acts 2:37 Peter and the Apostles were asked the question – What Shall We do?

And in Acts 2:38 Peter answered, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Do you understand this? After hearing the gospel and believing, they asked what should would do. The answer hasn’t changed friend, Peter clearly gave the answer. The question for you today is, Have you receieved the Holy Spirit Since you believed?
