You feel like something’s missing.
You’re trying to grow.
Trying to get better.
Trying to fix parts of your life that don’t feel right.
But there’s still that quiet thought.
“I’m not there yet.”
Then you read this verse.
“Complete in Him.”
And you wonder… really?
Because it doesn’t feel complete.
So what does this actually mean?
Is this something you’re supposed to reach… or something you already have?
Let’s see what the Scripture actually says.
READ THE VERSE (KJV)
“And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:”
Colossians 2:10 (KJV)
SECTION: WHAT DOES “COMPLETE IN HIM” MEAN?
“Complete” doesn’t mean you’ve mastered everything.
It means nothing is missing in what God has already given you in Christ.
Think about it like this.
You can have something fully given… but not fully understood yet.
Like owning something valuable you haven’t learned how to use.
The problem isn’t that it’s incomplete.
It’s that you haven’t seen it clearly yet.
“And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.”
John 1:16 (KJV)
So completeness isn’t something you build.
It’s something you’ve received.
Here’s the question.
Are you trying to add to what God already gave… or learn how to live from it?
SECTION: WHAT IS REALLY BEING SAID HERE?
This verse is pushing back against a mindset.
The idea that you need something extra.
More rules.
More systems.
More effort to finally feel “enough.”
But Paul is saying…
In Christ, you’re not lacking anything essential.
The pressure you feel to become enough?
It’s not coming from God.
“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”
Colossians 2:9 (KJV)
If all fullness is in Him… and you’re in Him…
then what exactly are you missing?
That’s the tension this verse confronts.
SECTION: CONTEXT CHANGES EVERYTHING
Right around this verse, Paul is warning about being pulled away.
“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit…”
Colossians 2:8 (KJV)
In other words.
Don’t let anyone convince you that Christ isn’t enough.
People were being told they needed extra things.
Extra rules. Extra practices. Extra steps.
But Paul brings it back.
You are complete in Him.
That shuts down the idea that something else is required to make you whole.
SECTION: THE CONNECTION MOST PEOPLE MISS
This connects to something Jesus Himself said.
“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
John 10:10 (KJV)
Not partially.
Not eventually.
Life in Him is full.
So “complete in Him” isn’t just a statement.
It’s the reality of what Jesus came to give.
SECTION: WHERE THIS SHOWS UP IN REAL LIFE (BIBLE STORIES)
Look at Martha for a second.
She was busy.
Trying to serve. Trying to do everything right.
But she felt overwhelmed.
“Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone?”
Luke 10:40 (KJV)
She thought more effort would fix the pressure.
But Jesus pointed somewhere else.
“One thing is needful…”
Luke 10:42 (KJV)
Not more doing.
Him.
So ask yourself.
Are you trying to complete yourself through activity…
or resting in what’s already been given?
Look at The rich young ruler.
He had everything.
Discipline. Morality. Structure.
But still felt something missing.
“What lack I yet?”
Matthew 19:20 (KJV)
That question says it all.
He had a lot… but didn’t have Christ.
So here’s the question.
Are you chasing completeness in what you do…
or in who you’re connected to?
SECTION: LET’S BE HONEST
This is hard to believe sometimes.
Because you still see flaws.
You still see areas that need growth.
And it feels like “complete” shouldn’t apply yet.
But listen.
“My grace is sufficient for thee…”
2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)
Sufficient.
Enough.
So the issue isn’t whether God has given enough.
It’s whether you’re measuring yourself by what you see… or what He said.
SECTION: WHAT ACTUALLY CHANGES WHEN YOU LIVE THIS
Here’s the shift.
You move from striving to become enough
to living from what’s already enough.
Before, everything feels like a gap.
Something to fix. Something to improve. Something missing.
Now?
You start from fullness.
Not because you feel it every day…
but because God said it’s true in Christ.
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye… may abound to every good work.”
2 Corinthians 9:8 (KJV)
That changes your approach.
You don’t work to complete yourself.
You act from a place where you’ve already been given what you need.
And that slowly removes the pressure.
OUTRO (NO PRAYER)
You don’t have to chase completeness.
According to Scripture… you already have it in Christ.
So the real question is…
are you going to keep trying to fill the gap…
or start living like there isn’t one?
Sit with that today.
