You believe in God.
You’re trying to do what’s right.
But deep down… there’s still that question.
Do you actually belong to Him?
Or are you just hoping you do?
Because some days you feel close to God…
and other days you feel like you’ve drifted again.
So where do you really stand?
This verse sounds simple.
But it answers something a lot of people quietly struggle with.
Let’s see what the Scripture actually says.
READ THE VERSE (KJV)
“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”
Galatians 3:26 (KJV)
SECTION: WHAT DOES “CHILDREN OF GOD” MEAN?
This isn’t just a title.
It’s a relationship.
“Children” means you belong.
You’re not outside trying to earn your way in.
Think about a family.
A child doesn’t wake up every day wondering if they still belong.
They already do.
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God…”
John 1:12 (KJV)
So this isn’t about trying harder to be accepted.
It’s about receiving what’s already been offered.
Here’s the question.
Are you living like someone who belongs… or someone still trying to prove it?
SECTION: WHAT IS REALLY BEING SAID HERE?
This verse shifts everything from performance to faith.
You don’t become God’s child by effort.
You don’t stay His child by getting everything right.
It says “by faith.”
That means trust.
Dependence.
Letting go of the idea that you can earn your place.
And that’s where the struggle comes in.
Because your mind still wants to measure yourself.
Am I doing enough?
Am I consistent enough?
Am I worthy?
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”
Ephesians 2:8 (KJV)
So the pressure you feel?
It’s coming from the old way of thinking.
Not from what God actually said.
SECTION: CONTEXT CHANGES EVERYTHING
Paul is writing to people who started with faith…
but then went back to trying to earn it.
They thought they had to follow rules to stay accepted.
So he reminds them.
“For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”
Galatians 3:27 (KJV)
You’ve already been placed in Him.
This isn’t about getting in.
It’s about understanding where you already are.
That changes how you see everything.
SECTION: THE CONNECTION MOST PEOPLE MISS
This goes all the way back to a promise.
“And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.”
Genesis 15:6 (KJV)
That’s Abraham.
Before the law.
Before the system.
Just faith.
So being a child of God was never about performance.
It was always about believing Him.
Galatians 3:26 is just continuing what God already started.
SECTION: WHERE THIS SHOWS UP IN REAL LIFE (BIBLE STORIES)
Look at Abraham for a second.
He didn’t have everything figured out.
He had moments of doubt. Delay. Questions.
But one thing stood out.
He believed God.
“And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.”
Genesis 15:6 (KJV)
That belief is what defined him.
Not perfection.
So ask yourself.
Are you waiting until you feel “good enough”…
or are you trusting God right where you are?
Look at The Prodigal Son.
He walked away.
Wasted everything.
Came back expecting to be treated like a servant.
“But the father said… Bring forth the best robe…”
Luke 15:22 (KJV)
Why?
Because he was still a son.
His behavior changed.
His identity didn’t.
So here’s the question.
Are you living like a servant trying to earn your place…
or a son who already has one?
SECTION: LET’S BE HONEST
This is where it gets uncomfortable.
Because part of you still feels like you have to earn it.
Like if you mess up too much… you’ll lose your place.
Or if you don’t stay consistent… God will pull back.
But listen.
“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:”
Romans 8:16 (KJV)
This isn’t something you have to force.
It’s something God confirms.
The struggle doesn’t mean you’re not His.
It often means you’re learning to believe that you are.
SECTION: WHAT ACTUALLY CHANGES WHEN YOU LIVE THIS
Here’s the shift.
You move from trying to earn acceptance
to living from belonging.
Before, everything felt like a test.
Am I doing enough?
Am I close enough?
Am I consistent enough?
Now?
You start from something settled.
You belong.
“And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.”
Galatians 4:6 (KJV)
That changes how you approach God.
Not distant. Not formal.
Personal.
Confident.
Real.
You don’t perform to get close.
You come close because you already are.
And that slowly rewires how you think… and how you live.
OUTRO (NO PRAYER)
You’re not trying to become God’s child.
According to Scripture, you already are… by faith.
So the real question is…
are you going to keep living like you’re outside…
or start living like you belong?
Sit with that today.
