Matthew 9:32–33 Explained: What If The Issue Isn’t Just Physical?

You look at some situations and think… this feels deeper.

Like it’s not just physical.

Not just surface level.

Something underneath is affecting everything else.

And that can make you wonder… where do you even start?

Let’s see what the Scripture actually says.

“As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil.
And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.”
Matthew 9:32–33 (KJV)

“They Brought To Him”

Again, someone brought him.

He didn’t come on his own.

Others stepped in.

They recognized the need… and took action.

That matters.

Because sometimes you don’t even have the strength or clarity to bring yourself.

But someone can bring you.

Or you can choose to come anyway.

Do you see that?

Movement toward Jesus keeps showing up.

“Possessed With A Devil”

This goes deeper than physical inability.

The man couldn’t speak.

But the root wasn’t just his body.

There was something influencing him underneath.

That’s not always comfortable to think about, is it?

Because we prefer simple explanations.

But this shows something else.

Not every issue starts on the surface.

“When The Devil Was Cast Out”

Notice the order.

The root was dealt with first.

Then the result changed.

The moment the spirit was removed… the man spoke.

No delay.

No recovery period.

Immediate change.

Do you see the connection?

Address the source… and the symptom follows.

“The Dumb Spake”

Something that couldn’t happen before… happened instantly.

No training.

No gradual progress.

Just restoration.

That’s not what people expect, is it?

We’re used to processes.

But here it’s direct.

Authority meets the root… and everything shifts.

What Was Happening Here?

This comes right after multiple healings.

Blind eyes opened.

Now a mute man speaks.

And the response is clear.

“It was never so seen.”

People recognized this wasn’t normal.

This wasn’t human effort.

That context matters.

Because it shows Jesus wasn’t just helping people cope.

He was restoring completely.

Scripture Shows This Authority

Luke 11:20 says,
“If I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.”

This points back to authority again.

Not struggle.

Not resistance.

Authority.

And Acts 10:38 says,
“…healing all that were oppressed of the devil…”

Some conditions were tied to oppression.

And Jesus dealt with it directly.

The Internal Struggle You Might Recognize

You might sense something isn’t right.

But you don’t know how to define it.

So you focus only on what you can see.

The outward issue.

And it feels like you’re going in circles.

Because the root hasn’t been addressed.

Is that what’s been happening?

Do you feel like you’re dealing with symptoms… but not seeing real change?

What This Is Calling You Toward

This isn’t about overcomplicating everything.

It’s about bringing the whole situation to Jesus.

Not just the visible part.

The deeper part too.

He didn’t need a process.

He addressed it directly.

And everything changed.

Luke 4:18 says,
“He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives…”

That includes freedom.

Not just relief.

So what would it look like to stop managing the surface… and bring the whole thing to Him?

One Truth To Sit With

Jesus didn’t struggle to fix this.

He dealt with the root.

And the result followed immediately.

The same authority is still there.

So here’s the question that stays with you…

Are you only focusing on what you can see… or are you bringing the deeper issue to Him too?

Call to Action: The Question That Demands an Answer

In Acts 2:37 Peter and the Apostles were asked the question – What Shall We do?

And in Acts 2:38 Peter answered, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Do you understand this? After hearing the gospel and believing, they asked what should would do. The answer hasn’t changed friend, Peter clearly gave the answer. The question for you today is, Have you receieved the Holy Spirit Since you believed?
