You ever read a passage where it almost feels too easy?
Like people just show up, do one thing, and everything changes.
And you think… it can’t really be that simple.
So you start adding steps. Conditions. Explanations.
But what if the simplicity is the point?
Let’s see what the Scripture actually says.
“And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.
And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,
And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.
And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.”
(KJV)
They recognized Him… then moved
“Straightway they knew him…”
That’s where it starts.
They didn’t question who He was.
They recognized Him.
And what did they do next?
They ran.
“And began to carry about… those that were sick…”
No delay.
No waiting for a better time.
They moved as soon as they knew He was there.
Do you see that connection?
Recognition… then action.
They didn’t keep it to themselves
They didn’t just think, this is good for me.
They went and got others.
Carried them.
Brought them.
Put them where Jesus was.
That’s effort.
That’s intention.
That’s faith in motion.
What do you do when you know where help is?
The request was simple
“They besought him…”
They asked.
But notice what they asked for.
“That they might touch… the border of his garment…”
Not a long interaction.
Not a detailed process.
Just a touch.
“If it were but…”
Even that wording shows something.
They believed even the smallest contact was enough.
That’s not what many expect, is it?
The result was consistent
“As many as touched him were made whole.”
Not some.
Not a few.
As many.
That’s a pattern.
Everyone who responded in that way… received.
That lines up with what you’ve already seen:
“According to your faith be it unto you”
(Matthew 9:29)
“And he healed them all”
(Matthew 12:15)
There’s consistency here.
But let’s be honest about what happens inside
You read this… and something pushes back.
Because your experience doesn’t always match this.
So your mind starts adjusting the expectation.
Maybe that was a different time.
Maybe those were different people.
Maybe it’s not meant to work like that now.
And without realizing it… you lower what you expect.
Do you feel that happening?
Look at what they didn’t do
They didn’t complicate it.
They didn’t debate.
They didn’t sit back analyzing.
They didn’t wait until they understood everything.
They heard He was there.
They brought the sick.
They reached out.
That’s it.
Another place shows the same idea:
“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you”
(James 4:8)
Notice the movement.
Draw near.
So what does this look like for you?
Not trying to recreate a scene.
But responding in the same way.
Coming to Him.
Bringing what’s real.
Reaching out in faith… even if it feels small.
Not waiting until everything makes sense.
What would that look like in your situation right now?
Here’s what you can’t ignore
They didn’t get results by standing at a distance.
They moved toward Him.
And even the smallest act of faith… a touch… changed everything.
So be honest.
Are you staying back trying to understand it all… or are you willing to reach out, even if it feels simple?
Call to Action: The Question That Demands an AnswerIn Acts 2:37 Peter and the Apostles were asked the question – What Shall We do?
