You ever feel stuck?
Not just physically or outwardly, but like something deeper isn’t moving no matter what you try?
You bring it to God, but nothing seems to shift.
So you start wondering… is something else going on here?
Let’s see what the Scripture actually says.
“And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?
Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.
And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.”
(KJV)
They refused to stop
Jesus is in the house.
It’s packed.
No space. No way in.
Most people would turn around.
Not these men.
“They come… bringing one sick of the palsy…”
He couldn’t get there himself.
So they carried him.
And when the door was blocked?
“They uncovered the roof… and let down the bed…”
They didn’t wait for a better opportunity.
They made a way.
Do you see that kind of determination?
What do you do when it feels blocked?
Jesus saw something deeper
“When Jesus saw their faith…”
Not just effort.
Faith.
It was visible in what they did.
But then something unexpected happens.
He looks at the man and says:
“Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.”
Wait… that’s not what they came for.
They came for healing.
Why bring up sin?
Because Jesus wasn’t just dealing with what was obvious.
He went straight to what was deeper.
That’s not what many expect, is it?
The scribes are sitting there.
Not speaking out loud.
But thinking.
“Why doth this man thus speak…?”
Jesus calls it out.
“Why reason ye these things in your hearts?”
So there are two things happening in the room.
Faith that brings.
And thoughts that resist.
Do you see the contrast?
One group is breaking through barriers.
The other is sitting still, questioning.
Which one moves something?
Healing and forgiveness are connected here
Jesus says:
“Whether is it easier to say… Thy sins be forgiven thee; or… Arise… and walk?”
Then He proves it.
“I say unto thee, Arise…”
“And immediately he arose…”
No delay again.
Complete change again.
But this time, you see something important.
Authority over sin.
Authority over the body.
Both handled by the same word.
This lines up with what you see elsewhere:
“Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases”
(Psalm 103:3)
And again:
“That ye may know that the Son of man hath power…”
(Mark 2:10)
Do you see the connection?
But here’s where it gets real for you
You might be dealing with something that feels stuck.
And you’ve focused on the surface.
The visible issue.
But what if there’s something deeper that needs to be addressed?
Not always sin in the way people assume.
But something internal.
Guilt.
Condemnation.
Unresolved weight.
Something that quietly tells you you’re not free.
Is that what’s been sitting underneath?
Look at what actually moved this situation
They didn’t wait for perfect conditions.
They didn’t sit outside hoping.
They brought him.
They pushed through resistance.
They acted on what they believed.
And Jesus responded.
Another place shows the same pattern:
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you”
(Matthew 7:7)
Notice the movement.
Ask.
Seek.
Knock.
Not passive.
So what does this look like in your life?
It might not be physical movement like breaking a roof.
But it is a decision.
To stop sitting back.
To stop letting obstacles define the outcome.
To bring it to Him anyway.
Even when it feels blocked.
Even when it doesn’t make sense.
What would that look like for you right now?
Here’s what you can’t miss
Jesus didn’t just see the condition.
He saw the whole person.
And He had authority over all of it.
Nothing was out of reach.
Nothing was too complex.
The only difference in the room?
Some brought the need to Him.
Others sat back and questioned.
So be honest.
Are you pushing through to bring it to Him… or sitting back trying to figure it out?
