Jesus Revealed as the Beginning of the Creation of God (Rev 3:14)

We’ll explore key verses such as John 1:1–3, Colossians 1:16–17, Hebrews 1:2–3, Genesis 1:1, Isaiah 44:24, Ephesians 3:9, and Revelation 22:13, all pointing to Jesus as the eternal source and ruler of creation. This message brings urgency, clarity, and encouragement, calling us to recognize Christ not just as part of the story but as the One who began it, sustains it, and will bring it to completion.

“These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God” (Revelation 3:14).

Brethren, pause and let this title thunder in your soul. Jesus is not some small footnote in history. He is not a borrowed thought from another age. He is the beginning—the source, the fountainhead, the very origin of all that exists. If He is the beginning, then without Him there is no story, no universe, no life, no hope.

Jesus as the Creator and Source

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… all things were made by him” (John 1:1–3). Do you hear it? He was not made. He made! The world was made by Him, yet the world knew Him not (John 1:10). What a tragedy, to live in the house yet never acknowledge the Builder.

“For by him were all things created… all things were created by him, and for him: and he is before all things, and by him all things consist” (Colossians 1:16–17). Friends, do you realize what that means? Every atom in your body holds together because Christ holds it. If He were to loosen His grip, the stars would fall, the seas would boil, and your very breath would vanish.

“God… hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son… by whom also he made the worlds; who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person… upholding all things by the word of his power” (Hebrews 1:2–3). Can you fathom it? Upholding all things—not just galaxies, but your weary life, your anxious thoughts, your fragile soul.

“He that built all things is God” (Hebrews 3:4). Who built all things? Christ. And therefore Christ is God. Paul declares, “But to us there is but one God, the Father… and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him” (1 Corinthians 8:6).

Echoes from Genesis

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). At that beginning, the Alpha was there. When the voice rang out, “Let us make man in our image” (Genesis 1:26), who was the “us”? It was the eternal Son, the same Jesus now revealed as the beginning of God’s creation.

“By the word of the Lord were the heavens made… for he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast” (Psalm 33:6, 9). That Word is Christ. That Word spoke into nothingness, and galaxies leapt into being.

The Prophets Confirm His Role

“Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary?” (Isaiah 40:28). The Jesus you trust is no tired prophet. He is the everlasting Creator!

“Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer… I am the Lord that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself” (Isaiah 44:24). Yet the New Testament says Christ made all things. What conclusion can we draw? That Jesus Christ is the Lord of Isaiah!

“Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us?” (Malachi 2:10). Yes, one Creator. Not two, not three—but one. And that one is revealed in Jesus.

New Testament Expansion

Paul says, “God… created all things by Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 3:9). Could it be plainer? All things—your life included—exist because of Him.

The heavenly hosts cry, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created” (Revelation 4:11). And in the very next chapter the Lamb is worshiped with equal praise. The Creator and Redeemer are one and the same—Jesus Christ.

And hear His own voice: “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end” (Revelation 21:6). Again He says, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last” (Revelation 22:13). The beginning of creation, the end of history, the first word, the last word—Jesus spans it all.

A Weighty Conclusion

Friends, Revelation 3:14 does not teach that Jesus was the first creature. No, it reveals that He is the archē—the origin, the ruler, the source. From Genesis to Revelation, the testimony is the same: Jesus is the Creator, Sustainer, and Consummator of all things.

He is not just in the story. He is the one who started the story. He is the one who holds the story together. And He is the one who will close the book when the last chapter has been written.

So I ask you: do you know Him only as a name, or do you know Him as the Beginning? If He is the beginning, is He your beginning? If He holds all things together, are you held by Him? If He is the Alpha and Omega, where will you stand when He speaks the final word?

Choose Christ, the Beginning and the End. Without Him there is nothing. With Him there is everything.
