Brethren, lift up your eyes and your hearts, for I bring you face to face with a name that cannot be shaken. Jesus Christ is not sometimes faithful, not occasionally true – He is Faithful and True always. Heaven and earth may pass away, but His word stands forever. Do you believe this? Do you live as if this is true? Let us walk through the Scriptures and see the golden thread woven from Genesis to Revelation, binding promise to fulfillment, covenant to crown, and witness to final judgment.
The Core Declaration
Revelation 3:14 tells us plainly – Jesus Himself names His title: “the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God.” And Revelation 19:11 shows heaven opened, revealing Him riding forth, called Faithful and True, judging and making war in righteousness. Friends, here is certainty. Here is authority. Here is the One you can lean your soul upon.
God’s Faithful and True Character from the Beginning
From the days of Moses, it was declared: “The LORD thy God, He is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy” (Deuteronomy 7:9). He does not change, He does not lie (Numbers 23:19). His word is right, and all His works are done in truth (Psalm 33:4). What God established with David in Psalm 89 is rooted in His covenant faithfulness, flowing all the way to Christ, the Son of David. Isaiah proclaims that Messiah’s very belt is righteousness and faithfulness (Isaiah 11:5). Micah says He performs the truth to Jacob (Micah 7:20). Zechariah declares Jerusalem shall be called the city of truth (Zechariah 8:3). O my soul, do you see it? Truth and faithfulness are not passing qualities of God – they are His very nature.
Jesus in the Flesh – Faithful Witness, the Truth Incarnate
The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth (John 1:14, 17). Jesus said of Himself, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). When He stood before Pilate, He declared His purpose: “To this end was I born… to bear witness unto the truth” (John 18:37). Friends, do you see the consistency? From Isaiah’s throne of truth (Isaiah 16:5) to the carpenter’s Son declaring fulfillment in Nazareth (Luke 4:18–21), He has always been the faithful witness. Scripture says of Him, “Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth” (1 Peter 2:22). No deceit. No faltering. Only truth.
Faithful and True in the Revelation of Glory
Revelation resounds with this testimony. He is the faithful witness (1:5), the holy and true One holding the key of David (3:7). Heaven sings, “Just and true are thy ways” (15:3). The saints shout, “True and righteous are his judgments” (19:2). John sees Him again: His name is Faithful and True; His robe dipped in blood, His name called The Word of God (19:11–13). And finally, the angel assures us: “These words are true and faithful” (21:5; 22:6). Brethren, what He has spoken He will finish.
Faithful in His Offices – Priest, Advocate, Intercessor
Hebrews declares He became like His brethren, “that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest” (Hebrews 2:17). He was faithful to Him that appointed Him (Hebrews 3:1–2). He ever liveth to make intercession (Hebrews 7:25). Even when He stood before Pilate, He witnessed a good confession (1 Timothy 6:13). And now, if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous (1 John 2:1). O what comfort – He will not drop you, He will not forget you, He will not let you go.
God’s Promises Secured in Christ
“As God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay” (2 Corinthians 1:18). For all the promises of God are yea and amen in Him (v. 20). Titus 1:2 tells us God, that cannot lie, promised eternal life. Hebrews says it is sealed with two immutable things in which it is impossible for God to lie (Hebrews 6:17–19). So strong is this anchor that Paul bursts out: “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it” (1 Thessalonians 5:24).
Faithfulness in Salvation and Forgiveness
What about your sin, your failures? Scripture answers: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins” (1 John 1:9). Faithful to forgive! Faithful to cleanse! Hebrews exhorts us: “Let us hold fast… for he is faithful that promised” (10:22–23). Even if men fail, let God be true, but every man a liar (Romans 3:3–4). Great is His faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22–23).
Faithfulness in Judgment
Do not be deceived – His faithfulness means judgment too. “With righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity” (Isaiah 11:4). Jesus said, “My judgment is just” (John 5:30). Paul thundered that God will judge the world in righteousness by Jesus Christ (Acts 17:31). And John saw Him again: “In righteousness he doth judge and make war” (Revelation 19:11). Truth demands judgment. Love defends truth with a sword.
Our Response to the Faithful and True One
Brethren, how shall we live in light of this? Bind mercy and truth about thy neck (Proverbs 3:3). Speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). Stand with your loins girt about with truth (Ephesians 6:14). Put off lying, and put on the new man renewed after Christ (Colossians 3:9–10). And hear this last charge: “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life” (Revelation 2:10).
The Golden Thread Tied Off
The Old Testament declares: God keeps truth forever.
The Gospels reveal: Jesus is the Truth.
The Epistles assure: He abideth faithful.

O friends, the whole Bible thunders one message – Jesus is trustworthy. His truth cannot break. His faithfulness will never fail. Will you stake your life upon Him? Will you walk faithfully with the One who is called Faithful and True?
