JESUS REDEEMS BY HIS BLOOD (Revelation 5:9)

Jesus Redeems by His Blood

“Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.”

Brethren, hear this truth – Redemption is the heartbeat of heaven’s song.
From Genesis to Revelation, God’s message is clear: “The life of the flesh is in the blood” (Leviticus 17:11). And “without shedding of blood is no remission” (Hebrews 9:22). The Bible’s trail of redemption is written in crimson.

Every altar, every sacrifice, every covenant pointed to the Lamb of God, slain from the foundation of the world. The blood of bulls and goats could never wash away sin, but the blood of Jesus – precious, perfect, and powerful – has done what no other could do.

1. HIS BLOOD ESTABLISHES THE NEW COVENANT

Friends, when Jesus lifted the cup and said, “This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (Matthew 26:28), He sealed a promise that Jeremiah foresaw: “I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more” (Jeremiah 31:34). The old covenant was written on stone; the new one is written on hearts.

He became “the mediator of the new testament… by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first testament” (Hebrews 9:15). Think about that – the blood of Jesus reaches backward and forward through time! “This cup is the new testament in my blood” (Luke 22:20).

Now, “having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus” (Hebrews 10:19), we come not trembling, but trusting. We are “justified freely by His grace… through faith in His blood” (Romans 3:24–25). The cross opened what sin had sealed shut. The veil was torn, and the way to God was made new.

2. WE ARE REDEEMED AND FORGIVEN THROUGH HIS BLOOD

Redemption isn’t theory – it’s transaction.
Ephesians 1:7 says, “In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” Picture it: slaves of sin, bought back, set free, given new names and new robes. We were not pardoned on a whim; we were purchased at a price. “In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:14).

O my soul, consider the cost! “Being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him” (Romans 5:9). The wrath that should’ve fallen on us fell on Him.

He “entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us” (Hebrews 9:12). The church isn’t just an organization – it’s “the church of God, which He hath purchased with His own blood” (Acts 20:28). We belong to Him twice – first by creation, then by redemption.

3. THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST REDEEMS US FROM FUTILITY

What could buy your soul? Gold? Silver? Success? Never.
“Ye were not redeemed with corruptible things… but with the precious blood of Christ” (1 Peter 1:18–19). The world’s treasures tarnish, but this blood never loses its power.

Remember that night in Egypt? When the blood of a spotless lamb marked the doors of Israel and death passed over? That was only a shadow. Jesus is “our Passover… sacrificed for us” (1 Corinthians 5:7). “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).

Every drop that fell from Calvary shouts, “It is finished!” And in Revelation 12:11 we read, “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb.” He was “wounded for our transgressions… and with His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). “That He might sanctify the people with His own blood, He suffered without the gate” (Hebrews 13:12). This isn’t dead religion – it’s living redemption.

4. HIS BLOOD BRINGS US NEAR TO GOD

Sin had built a wall higher than any mountain. But listen – “Ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ” (Ephesians 2:13).
We once stood outside, condemned and unworthy, but now we are invited in – sons and daughters seated at the Father’s table.

Through the cross, “He made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself” (Colossians 1:20). So come close, believer! “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience” (Hebrews 10:22).

No longer condemned, but cleansed. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). The blood didn’t just remove your guilt – it gave you access to glory.

5. THE BLOOD CLEANSES AND CONTINUES TO WORK

It wasn’t one and done. It’s living, cleansing, speaking still.
“The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). Every time you fall, every time you confess, that blood still speaks mercy.

“To Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel” (Hebrews 12:24). Abel’s blood cried out for vengeance; Jesus’ blood cries out for forgiveness.

“Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood” (Revelation 1:5). Washed – not stained, not covered – washed. “Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity” (Titus 2:14). His blood doesn’t just cleanse the record – it cleanses the conscience.

6. HEAVEN DECLARES THE VICTORY OF HIS BLOOD

And now the song of the redeemed fills eternity.
“Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood… and hast made us unto our God kings and priests” (Revelation 5:9–10).

Can you hear it? Multitudes beyond number, washed and crowned, singing the song of the Lamb. “They… made their robes white in the blood of the Lamb” (Revelation 7:14). The blood that stained the cross now adorns the saints in glory.

“Now is come salvation… and they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb” (Revelation 12:10–11). The story ends not in defeat, but in triumph. So let the redeemed of the Lord say so! (Psalm 107:2).

Brethren, the blood still speaks. The blood still saves. The blood still prevails.
Come to the fountain that never runs dry, and find redemption – complete, eternal, and alive.
