Brethren, God still writes history through ordinary people who dare to believe Him. Esther’s story isn’t just a record of ancient courage – it’s a mirror held up to every believer standing in the tension between comfort and calling.
When the world trembles under darkness, God raises up voices in unexpected places. You were not born by chance. You were placed by purpose. Esther stood between death and deliverance, fear and faith, silence and salvation.
Her story cries out to us: stand where God puts you, speak when He prompts you, and trust that He is working even when He seems silent.
1. Esther’s Humble Beginnings – God Starts in the Quiet Places
Praise be to God, the story of Esther begins not in a palace but in obscurity. She was an orphan. No parents, no royal bloodline – yet God saw her.
“And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter: for she had neither father nor mother.” (Esther 2:7)
Friends, never despise small beginnings. The myrtle tree, her Hebrew name’s meaning, grows low but releases a sweet fragrance when crushed. Is that not how God works? He often hides destiny in humility until the right season to reveal it.
2. Taken into the King’s Palace – Divine Appointments Look Like Disruptions
Esther’s capture into the king’s house might have looked like tragedy, but God was arranging destiny.
“So it came to pass… that Esther was brought also unto the king’s house.” (Esther 2:8)
Praise the Lord, what feels forced may actually be divinely orchestrated. The Lord uses unexpected turns to position His people for kingdom purposes. Sometimes you’re not where you planned to be because God is moving you where He needs you most.
3. Esther Gained Favor – The Beauty of a Godly Spirit
Esther’s beauty wasn’t skin deep; it was Spirit-shaped.
“And the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him.” (Esther 2:9)
“And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.” (Esther 2:15)
True favor is not manufactured – it’s granted. It’s the aroma of a heart surrendered to God. Praise be to God, He can make a humble servant shine brighter than any jewel in the crown.
4. Crowned Queen of Persia – When God Opens the Door
After long preparation, the King set the crown on her head.
“And the king loved Esther above all the women… so that he set the royal crown upon her head.” (Esther 2:17)
Thank You, Lord. When the hand of God opens a door, no man can close it. Her promotion was not coincidence – it was covenant in motion. God always raises up His chosen vessel in His time.
5. Obedient to Mordecai – Staying Teachable in Triumph
Even with a crown, Esther stayed humble.
“Esther had not yet shewed her kindred nor her people; as Mordecai had charged her.” (Esther 2:20)
Brethren, success is not an excuse to silence submission. Obedience keeps you anointed. The higher God lifts you, the lower your heart must bow.
6. The Hidden Plot – God Uses the Small Acts
Mordecai uncovered a plot, and Esther relayed the warning.
“And Esther certified the king thereof in Mordecai’s name.” (Esther 2:22)
She didn’t know it then, but this act would later save her people. How many miracles are birthed from quiet faithfulness? Never underestimate the power of doing the right thing in secret.
7. A Moral Crisis – Faith Demands a Choice
Then came the news of destruction.
“To make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.” (Esther 4:8)
The easy choice was silence; the right choice was risk. Faith doesn’t grow in safety – it thrives in sacrifice. Mordecai’s challenge still echoes: “Who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
8. The Fast – Aligning with Heaven
Before action, Esther fasted.
“Go, gather together all the Jews… and fast ye for me… and so will I go in unto the king.” (Esther 4:16)
She sought heaven before facing man. Praise the Lord, fasting breaks fear’s hold and invites divine strategy. In every crisis, those who seek God first never move alone.
9. The Approach – Boldness Met by Grace
Then came the moment of truth.
“And the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand.” (Esther 5:2)
The sceptre of death became the symbol of grace. Hallelujah! When you step forward in obedience, God steps forward in favor. What courage touches, grace crowns.
10. The First Banquet – Wisdom Waits for the Moment
She didn’t rush her request.
“Let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.” (Esther 5:4)
Friends, wisdom doesn’t panic – it plans. Some victories require patience, not pressure. Timing is a weapon in God’s hand.
11. The Second Banquet – The Truth Unveiled
At last, she spoke.
“Let my life be given me… and my people… for we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed.” (Esther 7:3–4)
Esther’s words shook the throne. Praise the Lord – truth, spoken in courage, breaks the enemy’s grip. Every lie Haman built came crashing down because one woman dared to speak light into darkness.
12. Intercession for Her People – A Heart That Wouldn’t Quit
After Haman’s fall, Esther went again before the king.
“And Esther spake yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and besought him with tears.” (Esther 8:3)
She didn’t stop praying after the first victory. She interceded until her people were free. True intercession doesn’t whisper once – it weeps until heaven answers.
13. The New Decree – Standing for Life
“Wherein the king granted the Jews… to stand for their life.” (Esther 8:11)
The old decree of death was overruled by the new decree of deliverance. That’s the gospel written in ancient ink! The cross replaced condemnation with life, just as Esther’s plea brought salvation to her people.
14. The Feast of Purim – Turning Mourning into Joy
“That these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation.” (Esther 9:26–28)
What began in fasting ended in feasting. Praise be to God – He turns lament into laughter, ashes into beauty, and fear into faith. Purim stands as a banner of remembrance that God delivers those who trust Him.
15. Esther’s Legacy – God’s Silence Is Never His Absence
“For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus… seeking the wealth of his people.” (Esther 10:3)
Esther’s name became a symbol of faith and favor. Though God’s name was never mentioned in the book, His fingerprints are on every line. When God seems silent, He is still scripting victory.
FINAL CALL: Stand Where God Puts You
Praise be to God! Esther’s life still preaches – faith doesn’t wait for fear to leave. It walks forward whispering, “If I perish, I perish.” (Esther 4:16)
Friends, maybe your situation feels just as impossible. Maybe you’re surrounded by uncertainty, positioned in a place you never chose. But take heart – you’re right where God can use you. His favor can reach any palace, His purpose can redeem any pain, and His hand can turn any threat into triumph.
Stand up, speak up, and trust the unseen hand of God – for such a time as this.
