You’ve prayed before.
You’ve asked God for help. For clarity. For direction.
And if you’re honest… sometimes it feels like nothing happens.
No answer. No shift. Just silence.
So when you read a verse like this… it almost sounds too simple.
Just call… and God will answer?
Really?
What does that actually look like in real life?
And what if you’ve been calling… but not seeing anything change?
Let’s see what the Scripture actually says.
READ THE VERSE (KJV)
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
Jeremiah 33:3 (KJV)
SECTION: WHAT DOES “CALL UNTO ME” MEAN?
This isn’t just saying “say a quick prayer.”
This is more like reaching out because you know you need help.
Not polished. Not perfect. Just real.
Think about it like this.
When something goes wrong in your life, who do you call first?
That person you trust.
That person you believe will actually respond.
That’s what this is talking about.
Calling God like He’s actually there… and actually listening.
The Bible says:
“The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.”
Psalm 145:18 (KJV)
Not just calling.
Calling in truth.
No pretending. No hiding.
So let me ask you something.
When you talk to God… are you being real with Him?
SECTION: WHAT IS REALLY BEING SAID HERE?
God isn’t just saying “talk to me.”
He’s inviting you into a response.
“I will answer thee.”
That’s personal.
But here’s where it gets real.
A lot of times, we call… but we’re still holding control.
We ask God what to do, but already have our own plan.
We want answers… but only the ones we like.
And then we wonder why things feel unclear.
The Bible says:
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God… and it shall be given him.”
James 1:5 (KJV)
But that kind of asking assumes you’re actually open to receiving.
Not forcing.
Not controlling.
Just asking.
So maybe the issue isn’t that God isn’t answering.
Maybe it’s that we’re not really listening.
SECTION: CONTEXT CHANGES EVERYTHING
This verse wasn’t given in a calm moment.
It came when everything looked broken.
Jeremiah is speaking during a time when Jerusalem is under siege.
Things are falling apart.
People are scared. Confused. Uncertain about the future.
And right there… God says this.
“Call unto me…”
Not after things get better.
Not when everything makes sense.
Right in the middle of chaos.
Just before this, God says:
“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?”

That changes how you hear this verse.
This isn’t a casual invitation.
It’s a lifeline in the middle of pressure.
SECTION: THE CONNECTION MOST PEOPLE MISS
This promise didn’t stop in the Old Testament.
It carries forward.
Jesus said:
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”

Same pattern.
Call. Ask. Seek.
And God responds.
Not because you’ve earned it.
But because that’s who He is.
This isn’t about getting information.
It’s about relationship.

Look at Daniel for a second.
He was in a situation where his life was on the line.
The king demanded an answer no one could give.
Daniel didn’t panic.
He went straight to God.
“Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision.”

He called.
God answered.
But notice… it didn’t happen instantly in the moment of pressure.
There was a process.
So let me ask you.
When pressure hits… where do you go first?
Look at blind Bartimaeus.
He couldn’t see.
He couldn’t fix his situation.
But he called out anyway.
“Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.”
Mark 10:47 (KJV)
People tried to silence him.
But he kept calling.
And Jesus stopped.
Answered him.
Changed his life.
So here’s the question.
Do you stop calling when it feels like nothing is happening?
SECTION: LET’S BE HONEST
This is where it gets hard.
Because sometimes you call… and nothing seems to change right away.
You don’t see anything.
You don’t feel anything.
And it’s frustrating.
You start wondering if it’s even working.
But the Bible says:
“Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart.”
Psalm 27:14 (KJV)
Waiting doesn’t mean nothing is happening.
It means something is happening that you can’t see yet.
SECTION: WHAT ACTUALLY CHANGES WHEN YOU LIVE THIS
This verse shifts you from guessing your way through life…
to being shown what you couldn’t see on your own.
That’s the key.
“Great and mighty things… which thou knowest not.”
Before this… you’re trying to figure everything out.
Overthinking.
Running scenarios.
Trying to predict outcomes.
After this… you’re not relying on your own understanding anymore.
You’re being shown things.
Not all at once.
Not everything.
But enough to move forward.
The Bible says:
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)
This isn’t about having all the answers.
It’s about not needing to.
Because you’re being led.
Little by little.
Step by step.

God isn’t asking you to figure everything out.
He’s asking you to call.
To come to Him honestly.
To stay there… even when it feels quiet.
Because He didn’t say He might answer.
He said He will.
And He will show you things you couldn’t have seen on your own.
So maybe the question isn’t “Is God answering?”
