When we read God pardons our iniquities and examine the other words you can use for pardon and iniquities it is amazing how just this one phrase can link in with hundreds of scriptures.
So without further ado let’s explore what the Bible has to say about God pardoning our iniquities…

- Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger forever, because he delighteth in mercy. (Micah 7:18)

God Carries Our Iniquities
Another meaning for pardon is to bear/carry/bare/borne and this is a massive burden lifted from us. Let’s see other places in the Bible it is translated this way…
Our Punishment Would Be Greater Than We Could Bear If God Didn’t Bear It For Us
- And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear. (Gen 4:13)
Christ Was Offered To Bear Our Sins
- So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. (Heb 9:23)
- Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. (Is 53:12)
- Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. (1 Pet 2:24)
I Bare You On Eagles’ Wings
- Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.
Jesus Took Our Infirmities And Bare Our Sicknesses
- That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. (Mt 8:17)
He Carries His Lambs In His Bosom
- He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young. (Is 40:11)
I Will Carry You
- Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb: And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you. (Is 46:3-4)
We, Will Cease, To Exist If God Doesn’t Take Way Our Iniquity
- And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be. (Job 7:21)
I Shall Take Way Their Sins
- For this is my covenant unto them when I shall take away their sins. (Rom 11:27)
- And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins, and in him is no sin. (1 Jn 3:5)
- The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (Jn 1:29)
He Removed The Old Covenant To Rescue Us From Our Iniquities
- Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. (Heb 10:9)
He Has Borne Our Griefs
- Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. (Is 53:4)
He Has Forgiven Our Iniquities
- Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah. (Ps 85:2)
- And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity. (Is 33:24)
God Passes By Our Transgressions
- Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger forever, because he delighteth in mercy. (Micah 7:18)
- God passes by our transgressions. When you travel in a car how many things have you passed by without giving them a second thought? So too does God pass by our trangressions.
- One of the greatest examples of God passing by – or passing over – is the Passover when the Angel of death passed over all those who were covered by the blood of the lamb
- Proverbs 28:13 says that he that covers his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.
- Psalm 65:3 says God shall purge my transgressions away.
- Romans 10:11 says that if I call upon the name of the Lord I shall be saved.
- Hebrews 7:25 says Jesus Christ is able to save me completely because I came to God through him, because he ever lives to make intercession for me.
- Psalm 51:7 says purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me and I shall be white as snow.
- Micah 7:18 in other translations states that who is a God like my God, who pardons sin and passes over the transgression of his people. Of course, this ties in with the Passover when he delivered Israel out of Egypt. The Israelites were protected while they remained in the house that was protected by the blood of the lamb.
- 1 Corinthians 5:7 says …that Christ my Passover is sacrificed for me.
- John 1:29 says Jesus is the Lamb of God (the Passover lamb) which taketh away the sins of the world.
- 1 Peter 1:18-19 says I was redeemed with the precious blood of Christ, as a lamb without blemish and without spot.

In summary, thank God that He is God.
Without his grace, mercy, and His pardon of our sins we would be without hope.
One of the translations for a pardon that I didn’t touch on above and involves a complete study of its own is armor-bearer.
An armor-bearer was known for carrying the large shield before his captain, king, or champion.
Obviously the shield was used for protection and to cover the body from being hit with the arrows of the enemy.
In this verse, God is our armor-bearer. He does the heavy lifting and we need him to cover our sins which were done through Jesus Christ.
