The Bible encourages us to put on the new man. Even more impressive is that this new man is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Ephesians 4:24
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
A quick look at the concordance for the meaning of new and we see the usually meaning s for new such as: recently made, fresh, recent, unused, unworn. However it can also mean: of a new kind, unprecedented, uncommon, unheard of.
I would say a new man that is created in righteousness and true holiness is most certainly uncommon, unheard of, unprecedented and certainly a new kind. This is what we are transformed into when we a born again. A completely different person and new creatures in Christ. Despite the fact thatw e have been changed we are still also encouraged to continually put on the new man and put off the old man.
This is where daily affirmations can really help. It is really just a simple process of replacing bad thoughts with good thoughts. Of disciplining yourself by consistently training your mind to dwell on good things and therefore Godly things.
If you are born again it literally means born from above. Daily affirmations from the Bible can serve as a continual reminder that you are no longer earthy but you now bare the image of the heavenly. You are in Christ Jesus now and the old carnal thinking patterns will just not do. We are encourah=ged to not lean to our understanding and to be led by the Spirit. We are no longer to walk by sight but we are to walk by faith.
When we prepare for the day we have a shower to freshen ourselves up. We get dressed which may involved uniforms for our workplace, or maybe not, but nonetheless we go through a routine to put on certain things before we leave our homes to face the day. We also groom ourselves and make sure we look presentable.
We are encouraged in scripture to put on the new man. Really it should also be a part of our routine just like getting dressed in the morning before we leave. Do we have prayer to freshen ourselves (a spiritual shower) and to groom ourselves so we look good. You never look better then when you are praying. Do we put on the new man? Gods work uniform for us. Do we remind ourselves who we are and what we are here on earth for? Do we remind ourselves before leaving home that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us?
Or do we just do what everyone else does? If we do we will only get the same results as everyone else. The ball is our court. It us up to us what we do with the wonderful gifts and abilities God has given to us. Don’t bury them – equip yourself daily for life’s challenges. At least by putting on the new man daily you will be equipped to handle all things.
