When most people hear about Bible predictions they immediately conjure up images of end time prophecies of the end of the world and so forth without thinking about the wonderful things the Bible predicts for the individual believers in Christ.

Just feast your eyes on some of the amazing things that await our future:

1) We can expect a new heaven and a new earth.

If you just dwell on that statement for a moment and think about the word new. It means recently made and fresh, it also means of a new kind as in unprecedented, uncommon and unheard of. Wow… that’s something to look forward to.

2) God shall wipe away all tears from our eyes

This boggles my mind. Who is wiping away our tears? God himself… doesn’t that give you goose bumps just thinking about it. God will take personal care of you.

3) There shall be no more death

Say what? No more dying? Hey, doesn’t that mean we will be immortal? That means we will live forever, in other words we will have eternal life. Let’s count how many eternal is… 1, 2… 1 million, 1000 billion… wait the number too big to fathom.

4) There will be no more sorrow or crying

If I’m not going to be sorrowful or if I’m not going to have any reason to cry, then what does that make me? Hmmmm… Oh, that’s right… Happy!

5) There shall be no more pain

No more pain, distress or trouble. Man, no wonder it says this new heaven and earth is new and something unprecedented. Can you imagine a place that is absolutely trouble free?

This God character sure sounds harsh doesn’t he? After all he is going to give us a brand new, so fantastic and absolutely unheard of new place to live, he is going to wipe away all of our tears, he is going to make us immortal and of all the gall not only are we going to live forever the entire time we are going to be happy and trouble free as well. And just to make God totally unbearable he sent Jesus so that we can have a more abundant life right now as well. It’s a tough gig, isn’t it?

Affirmations are just lovely little sentences or nice statements unless we actually sow them into subconsciousness. We just can’t read them or say them once or twice and expect everything to be rosy from that day forward. The true success from using affirmations is actually in what I just said… using!

We have to use affirmations in such a way that they permanently permeate into our sub-conscious mind. This can only be done by repeating the affirmations to ourselves and dwelling upon the positive statements every day.

Affirmation simply means to affirm something to be true and there are many ways we use affirmations as a Christian sometimes without even knowing we are doing it. For example: Every time we pray either by ourselves or in a Church meeting situation we end the prayer request with Amen. This is a way of affirming what was just asked of the Lord to be true because Amen simply means – so be it. Think about that next time you say Amen to something you actually saying so be it and therefore affirming or agreeing that what was just asked will come to pass.

Another way Christian use affirmations is by singing choruses. It is amazing how many wonderful affirmations are contained in the choruses. So next time you sing a chorus just don’t let your mind wonder off actually take hold of what is being said. Every chorus and hymn contains positive affirmations that we actually sing into our subconscious mind to build up our faith and trust in God.

Reading the Bible is another way we sow positive affirmations into our subconscious minds. The Bible is constantly reminding us that we can, and that we are well able and God has an extreme love for us. While in the world we might face negativity and doubt, the word of God encourages us to be renewed and to be faithful and positive.

Praying is another way we can sow positive Christian affirmations into our life. Jesus encouraged us to ask in his name. Come before God in prayer and let your requests be known unto him and if we believe we shall have whatsoever we require of him. That is an amazing promise so why not use the formula God has provided us with?

Meditation is another way to sow affirmations into our subconscious minds. To most people meditation conjures up images of someone sitting with the legs crossed and chanting but that’s not what I am referring to here. To meditate on something simply means to dwell on it. Therefore, think about it constantly. I go for long walks for exercise and love meditating on positive statements and scriptures from the Bible. I also mix it up with listening to mp3 affirmations I have on my Ipod which I also find very uplifting.

In summary we will reap what we sow. If we do want good things in our life we just can’t sit back and wish it to be so, instead we need to actually train our brains to be spiritual. As you can see from the few suggestions mentioned above, that nothing has to be complicated.

There is more then meets the eye. For example: In 2 Kings 6:16-17 when the young man with Elisha saw that he and Elijah were alone and surrounded by a vast army Elijah said to him… Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

2 Cor 5:7 says, For we walk by faith, not by sight

To the natural eye all the young man could see was the enemy but there was more then meets the eye and when the young mans eyes were opened he could see that there was indeed a spiritual realm. The natural eye tends to only see the problems and difficulties in life, therefore the enemy. For example: If you hold your hand up in front of your face all you can see is your hand. The natural sight is deceptive because it can not see past the hand and if the hand is moved away you can actually see there is a whole big world out there.

The problem with this analogy is that we already know there is a big world out there past our hand because we have seen it before. But what if we had never seen the world out there before? Would our beliefs and actions be based solely on what we can see in our hand?

The simple fact of the matter is that there are things we have never seen and that is why walking (living) by faith is the best life of all. If you think about it everything we see is an illusion, we don’t really see the real world – or should I say the spiritual realm.

To explain this concept further just think about what you watch on your television. You see people, buildings, beautiful scenery, crime, love, wars, passion and more. Yet as real as those images appear to be they are not real, indeed some of those actors, even though you can now see and hear them talking, have long passed away, yet they look so real and alive before us on the screen.

What we see with the natural eye and what is reality are totally different things. Our natural sight can be deceived into seeing an illusion. The things that look so real on the tv are actually still pictures presented to us in frames that are flickering so quick on the screen they appear to us to be moving (or alive). On top of that the images are transmitted through the air via invisible patterns of electricity and magnetism. The television using modern technology allows our eyes to see what would otherwise be invisible. Therefore outside of the television realm you would never know those things existed.

As we can see (no pun intended) there are realms that exist that our natural sight can not see without help. The same goes for the spiritual realm, just because people can not see it with their natural sight they doubt that it exists and it is the role of the Christian (the television in this case) to help them see that invisible realm.

In John Chapter 3 Jesus tells us that unless we are born again we can not see the kingdom of God.

You need a television set to see the otherwise invisible motion pictures. Just because you don’t own a television set and can’t see the moving pictures doesn’t alter the fact they do exist and I’m sure you would have plenty of people testifying that they exist – would you believe them?

Being born again is the television set of the spiritual realm. If you want to see the realm of God you must be born again otherwise that realm will remain invisible to you. There a plenty of people testifying that the kingdom of God exists however you can not see it through their spiritual television set you have to be born again yourself to see this wonderful realm.

The world is full of people who know what to do but still don’t do it. There is a huge difference between knowing and doing! For example most of us can rattle off how many calories we should be consuming, have knowledge of carbs, protein, amino acids, sugars, fat and a myriad of other food substances and additives. We all know how to exercise and why it is so important, yet despite all this knowledge the world is full of people who wish they could lose weight.

The difference is in the doing!

And so it is with positive thinking. Knowledge isn’t enough and wishing it were so isn’t enough. Reading a myriad of books and attending high priced seminars isn’t enough – unless you apply what you learn.

The Bible says for us not to be hearers of the word only but to be doers of the word. The secret is in the doing and the Bible also says that we will reap what we sow. There is also an old saying that goes along the lines of you get back what you put in, and this is true with positive thinking. You just can’t wish it into existence you have to sow good things into your brain on a consistent basis.

Positive affirmations repeated over and over again, every day can be a great way to sow good things into your brain. Eventually you will reap what you sow – therefore by putting in positive you will get out positive however this has to be done on a consistent basis.

Below I would like to share just one method of incorporating affirmations into your life on a consistent basis. I call this the getting dressed affirmations technique.

As you have your shower in the morning switch on your positive thinking and imagine as you are washing and you look down at the water running down the drain that all the negativity, problems, guilt or any other hindrance in your life is going down that drain as well. This is a new day as proclaimed in Psalm 118:24 – This is the day the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.

Repeat that statement as it is a great affirmation. Today is a new day and all the stuff you don’t want is now down the drain. You are clean and fresh and ready to put on good things. You step out of the shower and continue to repeat the affirmation that this is the day the Lord has made and that you are going to rejoice and be glad in it. You might start whistling cheerfully or even singing as your mood lifts.

Now you get dressed and as you put on your underwear you think to yourself, if I have faith nothing shall be impossible to me. (Mt 17:20) If I have faith just the size of a mustard seed, all I need is just an itsy bitsy teeny weeny little amount of faith and everything will be made possible for me. As your underwear goes on realise that you have this faith.

Now as you put on your shirt and do up your buttons you remind yourself that you can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens you. This is found in Philippians 4:13 and really sow this into your being. Repeat what it says here – I can do… I have power and I have strength… I am able and I can be strong… Yes – I can do… I can do ALL things; I have the strength and the power to do everything today because Jesus Christ has given me that strength.

As you now put on your pants you remember the words of Jesus in John 10:10 when he said that he came to give you life and more abundantly. Remind yourself that you are alive, that you have a happy life and one full of vitality. Affirming the scriptures as you get dressed today you are putting on more then clothes and you are putting on spiritual things which will lead you into an abundant life today.

As you put on your shoes and socks you remember that you have your feet shod with the gospel of peace. The good news of peace, rest and true tranquility.

My favourite is while putting on my belt and imagine that I am doing up the belt buckle in slow motion while affirming if God be for me who can be against me. Were dressed and ready to go, imagine walking out that door in slow motion fully equipped with Gods great tools ready to have a great and wonderful day.

The affirmations while getting dressed technique is just a way to start doing rather then just wishing. It’s just one idea for maximising your time. You are sowing positive affirmations into your life while doing something else. Of course you can substitute other affirmations and scriptures then the ones above but I hope this article has inspired you to go past just knowing how to start doing what you know.

There are many things we can be grateful for in life but have you ever thought about the amazing Biblical characters that have gone before us with a heart of gratitude. These guys and gals showed us by their great example and yes, even by some of their failings, how to live a courageous Godly life.

Today I would like to show my gratitude to just two wonderful Old Testament characters. Hopefully I will find time to write about many more of them in the future.

I am really grateful for Joshua and Caleb.

I am so thankful that these guys showed me by their own example how to stand up against popular opinion and hold fast to the promises of God. Despite the negativity of the other men who went in to spy the land with them and despite the crowd opposed to them – even to the point of wanting to stone them – they held fast to what God promised.

Remember that God promised them a land of milk and honey. The same men went to the same land yet the majority came back with a negative view compared to the minority who came back with a positive view.

Bible says in Numbers 13 that the negative majority, while confirming that the land indeed flowed with milk and honey just like God said it would, also claimed that Israel had no chance of possessing the land because the people already in it were strong, had walled cities and giants were also in the land.

The positive minority, namely Joshua and Caleb saw that the land was exactly as God said it would be and boldly proclaimed, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

The negative group could only see the obstacles while the faithful few could only see the possibilities. In chapter 14 we are told how the negativity quickly spreads with the whole congregation weeping, complaining and wanting to give up and go back into the slavery of Egypt where they just come from.

Joshua and Caleb pleaded with them by declaring how nothing had changed and that the land was exactly as God said it would be. They said, if the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it to us!

But sadly the congregation wanted to stone them for being so positive.

As a lesson in positive thinking verses negative thinking, and when I talk about positive thinking I refer to scriptural thinking. The negative ones, the ones who did not trust God, did not enter the Promised Land. The two positive, faithful guys did enter into the Promised Land.

Are you positive or negative?

Do you have unfulfilled hopes and dreams? Do you get all excited about pursuing something or changing something in your life but lose sight of the possibilities when you see the obstacles. When you see the obstacles do you give up and turn back to the slavery you are trying to escape from?

This can be applied to anything in our life. Most people fail to arrive at the place of milk and honey because they turn back. Whether it be in changing jobs, weightloss, or any other aspect in life it is the turning back from obstacles that prevent success.

God only mentioned the promised land and the milk and honey. He didn’t mention the obstacles because there wasn’t any. The only obstacles were the ones created in the minds of the negative ones. Sure the walled cities and giants did exist in the land but they were not obstacles for God.

Next time you are faced with a challenge remember the words of Joshua and Caleb who had full confidence in God and his word. Let’s go up at once and possess it, for we are well able to overcome it.

Thankyou Joshua and Caleb for showing us how to be positive, courageous and faithful to God. Your example has helped many other believers down through the centuries long past your own life times.
